What is ISO 9001?

ISO is a word that comes from the Greek isos that means "equal" and is the name adopted by the International Standards Organization. Created in 1947, this non-government organization, whose seat is located in Geneva, Switzerland, develops standards at a worldwide level and is made up of more than 140 countries, among them Chile.

Currently the Family of International Standards ISO 9000, version 2000, comprises four standards: ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems: Basics and Vocabulary; ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems: Requirements; ISO 9004: Quality Management Systems: Guidelines for Improved Performance; and finally, the ISO 19011, Guidelines for the Auditing of Management Systems.

ISO 9001 is a series of standards for systems of quality that are accepted at a worldwide level.

The standard ISO 9001 applies in those companies that design, produce and provide services on software products. It consists of 20 "clauses", each one of which establishes the requirements for the different areas of its quality system.
